We started our Cyclocross events here in 2002 and since then have raced at Coyote Point over a dozen times. This is the home of the Beach Run and so much more. This has been a UCI event in 2003/04/05 and has seen Ryan Trebon, Travis Brown, Tim Johnson, Jackson Stewart, the Jacques-Mayniacs, Anne Grande, and the undefeated 3-time CCCP Champ Thomas Frischknecht playing in the sand.
This is our longest course of the season and mixes amost everything in terms of surface. We've got eucalyptus forest paths, sandy/gravelly beach, several good stretches of pavement for a break in rhythm - and weeds, lots of weeds to dig up. It's not a flat course - the eucalyptus forest in the eastern portion especially has a significant elevation gain. Everything in the west is pancake flat - so that's where one of our TRP Brake Zones will be located.
This course also has a separate Start Zone - look for the Start Blades beyond the Rifle Range parking lot near the bathrooms. You'll start on pavement for 100 yards to deliver you into the eucalyptus forest and then it's into the beach. This will also be a slightly modifed first lap for all races.
