Race 3 - Golden Gate Park CycloCross - San Francisco

November 27, 2011

Racing in the Park!

We first gained access to Golden Gate Park in 2004 and have truly enjoyed the atmosphere of San Francisco's urban oasis. Site of the finale of the 2005 US GP of 'Cross, we've tweaked this spot a little bit every year, last season adding an outstanding new element in the forest just before the finish stretch.

This course starts with a long pavement section - almost 350 yards - before it enters the forest paths behind Metson Lake. Surface is possibly the most ideal in our entire series - mostly firm dirt, some rooty sections, even a semi-sandy loose stretch at the far Eastern end of the course - and then there's the final forest bomb and climb - the crowd will be with you to see if anyone can successfully ride the entire section. We'll have 2 TRP Brake Zone barricade sections but unfortunately no Figure 8 in the Park for security reasons. This is one of our longer courses with no problems with lapped riders.
